This vase is titled Absent Number 01 because this vessel was the first one created to launch the "Absent" collection of vases created by Alexander.
The collection is titled "Absent" because of the feeling it invokes as it sits in the room. The dark Matte black tone of the ceramic stoneware absorbs so much light, that it's only a dark void cutout that declares the shape and body of the vessel.
